Descriptions for drivers
Approach from the north (Goslar): From Goslar, take the B241 to Clausthal-Zellerfeld. When you reach Clausthal, continue to follow the main road into the town. After a while you will reach the old train station (see map 1, above), which also serves as a large bus station. There you come to a crossroads where you go straight on towards Altenau on Bauhofstraße. A short time after Bauhofstraße, you will find yourself on Altenauer Straße, where the Institute of Metallurgy is located. It is quite a huge building on the right-hand side directly behind a small town park.
Approach from the south (Osterode): From Osterode, take the B241 to Clausthal-Zellerfeld. Shortly after entering the town, there is a junction where you simply drive straight on into the town. You are now on Osteröder Straße. Continue to the next major crossroads, where there are traffic lights. An old wooden church is clearly visible there (see Marktkirche in the lower left part of the map). Turn right into Rollstraße.
Follow the arrows on map 2 so that you turn into the second street on the left after the traffic lights. Continue straight on until you reach Burgstätter Straße. This route seems a little more complicated than following the main roads, but it avoids the difficult traffic detour on Adolph-Roemer-Straße.
Go down Burgstätter Straße to its end at Erzstraße, where you can turn left, cross Erzstraße and then turn into Aulastraße. Drive towards the Aula (Map 2, point 3, a very striking building), pass it on the right and you will find yourself on Robert-Koch-Straße, which you enter on the right. Barely 100 meters later you are in front of the main entrance to IMET.
Approaching from the east (Altenau): When approaching from the east, there is not much to consider, because if you are coming from Altenau, you are already on Altenauer Straße when you enter the village. First you pass a clearly marked exit into the Feldgraben area (Agricolastraße, see map, bottom right), then you pass the junction with Erzstraße. You have reached your destination 150 meters after this junction. The Institute of Metallurgy is a large building on the left-hand side of the road
Approach from the west (Seesen): Take the B242 into the town, after a short while you will find yourself on Silberstraße, which leads quite steeply uphill to a junction with traffic lights. From there, simply drive straight ahead onto Rollstraße.
Follow the arrows on map 2 so that you turn into the second street on the left after the traffic lights. Continue straight on until you reach Burgstätter Straße. This route seems a little more complicated than following the main roads, but it avoids the difficult traffic detour on Adolph-Roemer-Straße.

Drive towards the Aula (Map 2, point 3, a very striking building), pass it on the right and you will find yourself on Robert-Koch-Straße, which you turn right into. Bus from Northeim The only line from Northeim to Clausthal-Zellerfeld is the bus line 440. The most convenient stop is Kronenplatz
